My friend Claire made my day just now. She sent this IM:

hey laura. i only have a quick minute and i wanted to let you know: i re-read your book recently and it has inspired me to:
help my workplace donate their old cell phones
i'm getting ready to go donate blood and sign up for the national marrow donor list
generally make the world a better place, one little thing at a time.
i also told my family that i'm an organ donor, just in case ;-)
