The last of the individuals who helped Anne Frank and her family hide from the Nazis has died at the age of 100. Simply incredible. I recognized her name the instant I saw it, even though I haven't read Anne's diary in years.

Anne Frank died of typhus at age 15 in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in March 1945, just two weeks before the camp was liberated. Gies gave the diary to Anne's father Otto, the only survivor, who published it in 1947.

I didn't really like reading her diary but the above fact always made me cry - she almost made it

Oh Meip Gies died? i just read her book and sent her a message on email- she wrote back too! She was such a great courageous lady!
