As a general rule, I think banning books is wrong. That said, I wish that fewer girls would read the Twilight saga and view it as a description of how a relationship is supposed to work. Read it, if you want, but don't be misled.

Oh come on, you're just an old married lady. What do you know about twu wuv? If you and Kevin were really in love you wouldn't be able to handle being apart from each other for more than twenty minutes at a time!

Aside: Graham (remember him?) reportedly used to watch me while I slept. I still feel itchy thinking about it.

Kevin has watched me sleep on occasion, or I've watched him sleep -- usually if the sleeping one is sick. We don't do it for very long, though...it gets boring fast.

I watch Rob sleep sometimes, not for long. Then I kiss him and I go to sleep.

Watching while someone is sick is different, I think, and certainly more exciting, what with the prospect of them suddenly vomiting on the floor and all.

But if they're not sick, well, I just don't see the interest. Not only is it boring to the extreme, people aren't particularly attractive while they sleep. Or at least I'm not. I snore and drool and mutter incoherently. Heck, cats are totally adorable when they sleep, and I can't even watch them for very long.

It's also not twu wuv if you didn't go through months of agony and hurting each other before finally being open about your feelings and falling into each other's arms in a shower of sparkles.

Lol. What amuses me about that is that when you and DeBray first got engaged, I remember being hopelessly confused because I wasn't aware that you had a boyfriend, much less one that you had been with long enough to consider engagement. Obviously we didn't know each other too well back then!

Well, I didn't say much about our relationship or its progress at the time. I posted briefly about having a boyfriend, and the next time I mentioned it, we were engaged. XD

I guess a lot of people were expecting the romantic play-by-play, but I kept most things to myself, 'cause it was our business, and gushing generally isn't my thing. It just bothered me that that one person assumed that since I hadn't posted every little heart flutter on El-Jay, that all our very serious and open conversations about where we wanted our relationship to go could not have taken place.

Ah, yeah, fail on their part. That's just silly.

My reaction ran pretty much like: "She's engaged! Wait, she has a boyfriend? Huh. Apparently so. Oh, well, cool, good for them!"

I figured he must be okay if you wanted to marry him, and I maintain that I was right. ^_^

The person in question was also a very, very bitter divorcée. One of those "I made a bad choice in marrying someone; therefore you're making a bad choice, too" sorts. She also hated TEH S3XX0RZ and freaked at any mention of a girl enjoying it. It's like, geez, woman, you want everyone to be as miserable as you are?

I'm not friends with her anymore. ;P

Well, duh. Aren't you supposed to earn your relationships through hardship and general asshattery? After all, making your feelings clear means you might actually get to be genuinely happy with someone, and heaven knows we can't have that.

My then-boyfriend actually had a list of questions he wanted to ask me. Did I have any huge debts, had I ever been in trouble with the law, that kind of thing. I guess a lot of people would have found that unromantic and insulting, but I appreciated the openness, and I told him so. I despise lovers' games. We ended up being a good match. XD
