The last of the individuals who helped Anne Frank and her family hide from the Nazis has died at the age of 100. Simply incredible. I recognized her name the instant I saw it, even though I haven't read Anne's diary in years.

Captain Lou Albano died.

Well, there goes another piece of my childhood. I used to rush home every day after school to watch The Super Mario Bros. Super Show.

RIP Patrick Swayze. You fought the good fight.

Unlike most celebrity deaths, I'm fairly affected by this one.

Whoa.

(No, not asleep yet.) Kevin just informed me that Bea Arthur died.

Yeah, I still watch The Golden Girls reruns when I find them.

On Heath Ledger.

I'm ringing in late because I wanted to see what would be revealed in the news. Not that I'm not still shocked and really rather saddened by the incident, because I am. But from what I'm reading this morning, the situation may be different than originally understood. They're describing his death now as an accident. The currently reported belief is that it was a drug overdose, but not the kind they first thought -- it looks like he accidentally overdosed on prescription sleep aids.

Of course, that doesn't change the fact that we've just lost a very talented and likeable actor. Or the fact that his little baby girl will have to grow up without him. Or the fact that the whole damn thing is just really sad.
