15 men

Well, [livejournal.com profile] clez tagged me to do this meme ages ago, and she very evilly forbade me to use Kevin, saying that it's rather a given I wouldn't kick him out of my bed. (Actually, I almost did once, when he woke me up by rolling over onto my hair.) But after a few weeks of great deliberation, here they are...

Please note that except for the first two, these aren't presented in any particular order. If anything, they're in the order they popped into my head.

1. Tony Curran

Yeah, yeah, you're shocked, I know. But if I can't list my #1 redhead, then I am most certainly listing #2. The man is goodlooking and has a delicious accent, not to mention he's an awesome actor. He's played so many different roles, he really has wonderful versatility. He's played an invisible man, a gay plumber (going so far as to do love scenes with another man), a crazy vampire, a Nordic warrior, and a blind telepath, among others. He's awesome...and he looks hot in a kilt.

2. Stuart Townsend

There is, as I said recently to Liza, something to be said for the dark Irish. Nobody really has the right to be this pretty, but I'm not really complaining. He also has great depth as a performer, and isn't afraid to look a little silly. (His recent cameo in Aeon Flux is a good example. Even THAT look sort of worked for him.) And, yeah, I do seem to have a fondness for guys who have played vampires.

3. Sean Connery

The sexiest senior citizen on the planet. He's 007, and Henry Jones Senior, and Richard the Lionheart (uncredited, in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves), and of course Allan Quatermain. I have to admit that I was amused to learn that he passed on Lord of the Rings, and I wonder how it would have differed had he taken a part. And which part was he offered, anyway?

4. Shane West

I'm partial to Shane, in part due to [livejournal.com profile] clez's evil influence. But it's the way he looks here, as blond-mopped Tom Sawyer, that he really does something for me. He always looks good, but as Tom....mm. Yeah, definitely wouldn't kick him out of bed for eating crackers, especially if he regrew his hair and dyed it blond again. Lookit'im! He's cuuuute.

5. Jason Flemyng

I guess you're seeing a theme, here, aren't you? Well, anyway, he's the #3 redhead. I just thought he was so sweet as Jekyll, and having seen him in a few things since then, I'm convinced of both his sex appeal and his acting range. He's also the only one on this whole list from whom I've ever received correspondence -- he writes about once a month to the fan mailing list I belong to, and it never fails to bring a smile to my face to see that I've gotten a new email from "jaseflem." He's really a sweetheart.

6. Alan Rickman

Breaking away from the League of Extraordinary Eye Candy, let's move on to one of my older fascinations. I loved him as the Sheriff of Nottingham, adored him as Colonel Brandon, enjoyed him as Metatron, and continue to love him as Snape. Alan R. is one of those men that I would gladly buy a ticket to listen to him read from the phone book.

7. Jonathan Rhys-Meyers

I blame [livejournal.com profile] valerious013 for this one, because she first introduced me to this bit of eye candy by suggesting that we use him for the basis of Tristan, hero of our joint fantasy story "Broken Boughs." I wasn't too impressed by the first couple pictures I saw, but then I broke down and actually watched a couple things with him in it. Those lips...they kill me. And like Stuart, he's a native of Ireland, and he has the cutest accent -- I heard it recently when he picked up his Golden Globe for Best Actor for his performance in the television movie Elvis. I can't WAIT to see him play Schmendrick in the live-action The Last Unicorn.

8. Jeremy Brett

Yeah, I'm going out on a limb here, given that he's dead. Don't care. If he were to jump into a time machine and skip forward from 1980 to now...as Emeril would say, "Oh yeah, babe."

9. Denzel Washington

Shown here with the also delightful Kenneth Branagh, what's not to love about Denzel? Hot, talented, intelligent, and a total class act.

10 and 11. James and Oliver Phelps

Ahh, the Weasley twins. Unlike their adorable little brother Ron, the twins are legal; and unlike their hot older brothers Bill and Charlie, they've actually been cast. I was surprised to learn that the Phelps twins actually have brown hair, and dye their sexy mops red for the films; the color looks so natural on them. (No, I don't know which is which.)

12. James McAvoy

Yes, I have a thing for Tumnus. I admit it. I think he has particularly lovely eyes, and the fact that he runs around the whole movie with no shirt isn't exactly hard to take. But as long as we're venturing into Narnia, I admit to having more of a fangirl interest in...

13. William Moseley

You'll notice that neither Dan Radcliffe nor Rupert Grint made this list, and it's for the simple reason that although I think they're adorable, I would kick them out of bed -- for being jailbait. The young High King Peter, however, is legal as of last September. And he's definitely cuter than Dan.

14. Jon Stewart

How do you say no to Jon? He's cute, he's smart, he's funny, and he's a great actor (he was the one reason I liked Big Daddy). Plus, he made me cry watching him cry after 9-11-01, when he talked about how he used to be able to see the World Trade Center from his apartment in Manhattan. "But you know what we have a view of now? The Statue of Liberty. You can't beat that." He won a lot of people's hearts that day.

15. Prince William of Windsor

Do I even NEED to explain this one? I think not.
