icons100 set that I attempted and failed to make of Steerpike, the anti-hero of Gormenghast. I had a computer crash and lost all my screencaps, so I had to drop the claim, but of the ones that I did complete this was my favorite. He's actually holding a sword, here, but something about the pose and the angle and the look on his face just screamed "I poke at thee!" and so...yeah.
-- This is from potterpuffs, and it amused me in light of my own secretarial career. I mostly use it on posts related to my job, frequently in a sarcastic manner. Kingsley Shacklebolt was the secretary to the Muggle Prime Minister for a time during the course of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, as a means of protecting him and keeping an ear to the ground, and he was remarkably efficient at his duties.
-- Haha. I made this one, as part of a handful of lolcat-inspired icons, a few years ago. It tickles my funny bone in all sorts of improper ways.
-- I don't remember where I found this one, but it's uncomfortably accurate.
-- I can be such a stickler for grammar and spelling (quite obnoxiously so, at times) that melydia suggested I start using this one.

If you have fewer than 50 icons, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five icons, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five icons, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them on your LJ and tell everyone exactly why you have it, why it's interesting to you, and what significance it has.
But like D, instead of going every tenth, I picked one icon out of every ten that I thought perhaps people might not understand. So here are my twelve icon explanations; if you'd like a different one explained, leave a comment and let me know which one has you curious. ( Oi! Down here! )

Oct. 4th, 2005 01:21 pmSo yesterday I decided I needed more LXG icons. I have a couple on the other journal, but was making them for this one.
I already had Nemo:
I went through my new screencaps and picked out one of Tom, because I wanted to use Rush's "Tom Sawyer" lyrics.
Jekyll's pretty darn cuddly.
And I just liked the idea that Dorian started slicing bad guys because he was mad that they shot up his library and ruined all those lovely books.
Still planning to do Mina, Skinner, and Quatermain. Might also do a double-Quatermain icon (Allan and Elizabeth) with the tagline "I have father issues" or something like that, if I can do it with reasonable cleverness.

Sep. 6th, 2005 03:08 pmPerhaps I spoke a bit too soon about this being a good day. One of our day care teachers died from cancer this morning, and everyone's been really upset (naturally) since we got the news. But at least she's not suffering anymore; she was really in bad shape toward the end.
And now my mother informs me that Bob "Gilligan" Denver died today. Also, today is the eighth anniversary of Princess Diana's funeral. She was buried on my 21st birthday.
Am off the clock at work now, but haven't left yet because I'm RPing withclez. Tom and Elizabeth friendship is good stuff. Love my kids. Party with my family at 7 tonight, so I won't be around much in the evening, but I'll make up for it tomorrow because I'm staying here after the office closes; our first choir practice is tomorrow night.
Thank you ALL for the thoughtful birthday wishes, either here in my journal or in your own. They're very much appreciated. :)

Jul. 20th, 2005 12:44 pmI have been tempted to the dark side, after a fashion. After so long seeing clez and valerious013 and _revolutionary and their ilk showing off the beautiful creations they made for icons100, I broke down and joined and submitted a claim.
And...the heck?
Lyn told me it took about a week for her to be approved...I just submitted my claim five minutes ago!
I'm in. I now have ten weeks in which to produce 100 icons of -- I know, you're all terribly stunned -- Sherlock Holmes.
