[livejournal.com profile] melydia recently told her Twitter pals about Concord Free Press, which does something neat -- tell them about a recent charity donation you've made, and they'll send you a free book.

I thought this idea was pretty cool, so I threw caution to the wind and mentioned it to @neilhimself -- that's Neil Gaiman. The Neil Gaiman.

A few minutes ago I received a phone call from [livejournal.com profile] sheikah telling me that I needed to get on Twitter RIGHT NOW because NEIL GAIMAN IS TALKING TO YOU.

Sure enough, Neil tweeted back at me, saying it was a good idea, and providing the link to all of his readers.

Neil Gaiman has acknowledged my existence. I can cross that off my lifetime goal list with considerable relish.

*toddles off happily*

So [livejournal.com profile] dizzytara did this thing where you leave a comment and she assigns you fandoms and you have to answer questions about them. These were mine. )

I'm getting a kick out of Twitter.

I'm stalking four celebrities on there in addition to all my friends -- Neil Gaiman, Stephen Fry, Tom Felton, and Wil Wheaton. I'd heard that Wil's a bit of a dork and he seems like someone I'd get on with, which is the main reason I started following him.

Short while ago, he posts that he found two new, good reviews of stuff he's published and that it made for a great start to his day. Hey, I'm a writer, I can appreciate that. Out of curiosity, I click the link for the review of his book Just a Geek. Turns out, the writer of the review is none other than [livejournal.com profile] melydia!

I immediately "tweet" her to let her know that he's posted this, since I can see in her profile that she doesn't follow him on there, and she goes and leaves him a message and the whole thing was just lulzy and fun. :D

Technically, I could petition to have my name added to the list of minor celebrities, in the author section. I have written a book. But given that it's a book that next to no one has ever heard of, this seems a bit impolitic. I'll just wait until I've published some fiction. (Wrote a prologue yesterday...) That's the reason I'm using my real name on there instead of Lady Norbert or something. Someday I shall be internet famous! Or famous-er, depending on your point of view.

Ah, April Fool's Day. Interestingly, I am up to almost nothing this year. Maybe I've finally outgrown the event.

Nah. Not likely. Moving on.

It's not quite as delightful to me as last year's unbelievable prank by IGN, where they spent three months making a fake trailer for a Legend of Zelda movie that doesn't exist. However, this does tickle my fancy considerably. Konami has produced a trailer for a fake game in the Metal Gear Solid series, starring a very aged Col. Campbell. It's extremely well done, so if your connection is strong enough, you might want to check it out: http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/movie/april_fool/index_j.html

Of course, the big prank for me is the fact that Easter is a week and a half away. *cringe* I have so much to do and such a headache to do it with. Ostensibly, I will not be around tonight because of Bible study; however, if this headache doesn't clear off, I may be staying home.

To conclude, a meme ripped off of a few of you. I refuse to tag anyone, though; if you want to do it, feel free.

Rules: It's harder than it looks! Copy to your own note, erase my answers, enter yours, and randomly tag 10 people (including me). Use the first letter of your name to answer each of the following questions. They have to be real; nothing made up! If the person before you had the same first initial, you must use different answers. You cannot use any word twice and you can't use your name for the boy/girl name question.

1. What is your name: Laura
2. A boy's name: Lewis
3. A girl's name: Lisa
4. An occupation: lumberjack
5. A colour: light blue
6. Something you wear: locket
7. A food: limes
8. Something found in the bathroom: lotion
9. A name of a place: Lebanon
10. A reason for being late: low on gas
11. Something you shout: "LA LA LA I CAN'T HEAR YOU"
12. A movie title: Labyrinth
13. Something you drink: lemonade
14. A musical group: Los Lonely Boys
15. An animal: leopard
16. A street name: Lexington Avenue
17. A type of car: Lamborghini
18. Something scary: "Love Story" by Taylor Swift (I despise that song)
19. A four-letter word: love
20. Ice cream flavour: lemon meringue pie (yes, I'm serious, it's only available for part of the year but damn is it awesome)

Crazy fangirls make the best friends. While emailing with [livejournal.com profile] oldschoollozfan about some crazy story idea I dreamed up yesterday, I had the following conversation with [livejournal.com profile] blcksunaphelion:

Norbs: You're a Zelda fan so I thought you'd like to know -- I've got the first volume of the translated OOT manga, and it. is. ADORABLE.

Jax: Hehehe.

Norbs: Do you have it?

Jax: Nope.

Norbs: Do you want it?

Jax: Duh.

Norbs: Because it's insanely cheap at Amazon, and if somebody loves me enough I might buy it for them.

Jax: LOL! You'll see how much I love you in a few days... I hope >.> If my devious plot works.

Norbs: Devious plot! Onoz! Should I be scared?

Jax: I no tell.

Norbs: Is there glitter involved? Are you kidnapping David Hayter for my personal enjoyment?

Jax: I said DEVIOUS, not DELUSIONAL.

The internet is still fluctuating; I think they've got their problems mostly sorted out but I keep getting booted. Apparently there was actually a router cable cut at the provider headquarters or something, from what I've heard, which is really strange. Point is, my net at home is not up to snuff so I won't be around this evening.

The vet called; Random's surgery went very well and he's doing just fine. I can pick him up tomorrow after work. My little guy will never be a daddy now. Maddy is so confused because she can't find him.

I sometimes think the level of my sanity is directly proportional to the amount of Twilight Princess I have going on. I even changed the status message on my MySpace to say "Laura is playing The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess." I have so much love for this game that it's probably unhealthy. Plus, Link = animated man candy.

Speaking of animated man candy, [livejournal.com profile] twilightsocks pointed her friends in the direction of this deviantArt gallery. If your taste runs to Disney heroes drawn with rippling muscles and very little clothing, you might find it very interesting.

Pastor is on vacation until the end of next week, so my workload is excessively light right now. After the last few months, I'm enjoying this.

Thanks to everyone who inquired after my back injury; I'm still experiencing pain, but it's better every day and I should be back to normal before much longer. Of course, normal for me isn't all that normal, but at least I'm used to it. ;)

And now for some fandom-related things. Click for news relating to Zelda, video games in general, Sherlock Holmes, Law and Order, and a short report from the Lady Norbert Costume Department. )

As I reported some while back, I received the Best Christmas Card Ever this year from [livejournal.com profile] siriuslypeeved. Kevin scanned it in for me last night, so I may finally show you all what makes it so incredibly awesome. Here's a hint -- he's a man in black. )

Got my answers from that doll, Jason Flemyng, to the questions I sent about LXG! Oh my word, the man is a total sweetheart. Here's his answers under the cut. See? Cut. )
