Noelle-chan, the fan artist, sent me a link yesterday to a story on FFN. "You have to see this," she said. I clicked.
It was a Mary Sue. Not that unusual, of course.
It was an LXG Mary Sue. Kind of expected that.
It was an LXG Mary Sue who looks like a blatant ripoff of my original character. THAT gets me steamed.
Her name is Marie-Elizabeth Quartermain (not Quatermain; the author is apparently unaware of the difference). I've sent her over to
marysues for some sporking fun. If you'd care to see what they think, the report is here.
I'm much less annoyed now than I was, but gah! The irritation! And I don't think this author ever read my story, I think it's a weird coincidence; but there are some similiarities between her Marie-Elizabeth and my Elizabeth that just set my teeth on edge. Not enough to make me think it really was a copycat, just enough to agitate me.
