It just gets worse, I think.

Okay, so [livejournal.com profile] valerious013 and I are writing that story. For our hero, she cast Jonathan Rhys-Meyers as he appears in two different productions. For his darker/crazier moods, we use his look from the BBC television movie Gormenghast. When he's happy/cured, we use his look from The Lion in Winter with Patrick Stewart and Glenn Close. (I watched that last night for the first time, and it's fantastic.)

Gormenghast is another fun instance of a whole lot of my fandoms slamming into each other. Because the cast includes:

~ Fiona Shaw, Richard Griffiths, Zoe Wanamaker and Stephen Fry. In the Harry Potter movies, Shaw and Griffiths play Harry's nasty Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon, and Wanamaker plays the Hogwarts flying instructor, Madam Hooch. Stephen Fry isn't in the movies, but he reads the British editions of the books on audio cassette and CD.

~ Christopher Lee, who is an entire fandom collision unto himself. Count Dooku, Saruman, King Haggard; the man is everywhere, pure and simple. If he was cast in the Harry Potter movies at some point, I wouldn't be surprised.

~ Neve McIntosh, who plays Beryl Stapleton in the 2002 BBC version of The Hound of the Baskervilles. That's the one featuring Richard Roxburgh (LXG's M/The Fantom) as Sherlock Holmes and Ian Hart (Sorcerer's Stone's Professor Quirrell) as Dr. Watson.

Is it any wonder that I renamed my website When Fandoms Collide?

New items in my screencap collection, this time from The Lion in Winter. Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, anyone?
