Oh, the weather outside is frightful.
Dec. 11th, 2008 08:19 pmFrom weather.com:
Rain will be winding down across the Southeast as a major, and historic storm, begins to pull away. The storm produced some early season and record-setting snow across parts of southeast Texas, southern Louisiana and southern Mississippi. Up to 9 inches of snow fell northeast of McComb, Mississippi. Snow showers fell in Houston, New Orleans and Gulfport and sleet covered the ground in northwest Alabama. Snow showers may fall overnight across the southern Appalachians. The good news is that heavy rain fell across the drought-stricken areas.
The storm will affect the Northeast overnight into Friday. Look for significant snow from south-central New York and the western Mohawk Valley, through the Adirondack Mountains, to northern New England. Snow should mix with and change to sleet and freezing rain in northern New Hampshire and northern Maine as warmer air moves in aloft. Snowfall totals, where precipitation remains all snow, may range from 10 to 15 inches with locally higher amounts.
Elsewhere, freezing rain will fall from southeastern New York through Albany, southern Vermont, western Massachusetts northwest Connecticut, southern New Hampshire to central Maine. Freezing rain may mix with sleet or even snow at times. Significant ice accumulations of one half inch or more are likely leading to power outages and downed trees. Mixed preciptation should change to snow by Friday morning as colder air moves in but amounts will be light.
Heavy rain is already falling from Maine to Virginia with 2 to 3 inches of rain possible by Friday afternoon. Flood watches are in effect for most of these areas.
It's been pouring for two days straight, and tonight it's all going to turn to ice. I can imagine going to work in the morning will be all sorts of fun; I just hope Kevin comes home soon.
