Reaching out to my geeky brethren!
Nov. 19th, 2010 12:04 pmMy fellow nerds of all ages, genders, sizes and shapes:
There has been a disturbance in the Force. The Geek Girls Network, of which as you may know I am a founding member, has alerted me to its cause.
A sweet young girl named Katie has been bullied. For liking Star Wars. The boys at lunch mock her for carrying a SW drink bottle, insisting that SW is only for boys.
This cannot be allowed to stand.
I urge all of you to go to this website. Read the article, then follow the link to where you can leave a supportive comment for Katie. If you're on Twitter, please check my page and retweet the link with the hashtag #MayTheForceBeWithKatie. And please spread this news throughout LiveJournal, which has long been a safe haven for geeks.
If the furor hasn't died down by Monday, this will be appearing in my blog. It may appear there anyway.
