May. 8th, 2005 08:29 pmFirst of all, I want to say thank you to my beloved eleven -- twelve, really -- for all the Mother's Day wishes. Mom loves you too.
As for this,
lfire1 and
ladyrazorsharp made me do it. ;)
1) Total number of films I own on DVD/video:
Good grief, I don't know. Probably at least 200, since Kevin is an obsessive movie collector.
2) The last film I bought:
The Master Blackmailer, one of the Granada series of Sherlock Holmes movies featuring Jeremy Brett. It's based on one of my least favorite SH stories ("The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton") so I knew I wasn't going to love it, but the scenery and costumes are gorgeous and I can offer no complaints about Jeremy Brett in a bathtub. (Well, except that the scene isn't long enough.)
3) The last film I watched:
The same.
4) Five films that I watch a lot or that mean a lot to me:
1. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. I don't watch it a lot anymore (there was a time when I watched it about once a week), but it still holds a very special place in my heart -- not least because it led to my meeting my kids.
2. The Princess Bride. I only watch it about once a year, but it's fine, because I know it by heart. Much like the book, it doesn't occupy a place on my personal favorites list; it's in a class all by itself. "Murdered by pirates is good."
3. Beauty and the Beast. Because they gave the heroine a brain. And because the prince at the end has long red hair. ;)
4. The Muppet Movie. My favorite movie when I was a little girl, it's still a classic, and one that I can sit down and watch any time.
5. The Greek Interpreter. I don't really watch it a lot and it doesn't mean a great deal to me, but it's something that never fails to bring a smile to my face.
5) Pick on five people and have them put this in their journal:
