The wind this evening is ridiculous. Our local power company reports that more than 10,000 of their customers are currently without electricity because of the high winds; it's gusting around 50 miles per hour. The wind is blowing faster than the legal speed limit on my street. The lights in our house have dipped repeatedly, although not in the last hour or so. Still, we're keeping the flashlights handy.

Kevin and I finally started cleaning the attic tonight. Considering we were only up there for 45 minutes, we made decent progress. More importantly, he informed me that he's off for all of next weekend, Friday through Monday. Something about celebrating St. Patrick's Day. I couldn't take our actual anniversary off, because it's the start of Holy Week and therefore crazy time, but we'll still have lots of time together so that will be excellent. We might go to Philadelphia on Saturday, which would be nice; we haven't gone away by ourselves since Christmas, when we went to Hershey for an evening. Even if we don't, I'm relishing the idea of relaxing with my favorite person. There will be movies and snuggle time and little if any computer.

Don't forget to set your clocks ahead tonight, if that applies to you.

I grow sleepyish, so I think that's it for now...

I've wanted to visit Central Park ever since I was about nine years old. That was when one of my great-aunts sent me a book called The Prince of Central Park, about an orphan who runs away and lives in a tree there. It's a dated book -- you can tell it was written in the '70s -- but it was still fun to read.

I've been there once. When my seventh-grade class visited New York City, we ate our picnic lunches in Central Park before going into the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Since then I've driven past it on at least one occasion (while taking the Manhattan bus tour), but never explored.

Now [livejournal.com profile] clez and I are doing a scene in the Beyond Evolution game; my Arielle decided she wanted to visit the zoo in Central Park. CP is very important to Ari; she's slept there on numerous occasions, and even when she had a place to live, she spent a lot of free time there. Luka, Clez's character, is an animal lover so Ari invited him along.

Because I'm pedantic and stuff, I pulled up the Central Park website in order to accurately list the animals they'd see and other things. And I'm fascinated. I've been reading all about Belvedere Castle, Strawberry Fields, the statue of Balto, and everything else. It's amazing.

Kevin and I want to go away next Saturday for our anniversary. I'm seriously thinking of asking if we can go up to NYC and spend the day in the park.

I mentioned earlier that Clez and I had sent two of our X-Men characters on an outing to Central Park. It seems this is going to become a regular Sunday event for them. Therefore, it woke up my art muse. )
