Quote is from the episode of Bonanza I caught this morning. I'm not sure why I like Bonanza and Gunsmoke so much, but I do.

Okay. Really long day, so I'm cut-tagging this post. However, I REALLY HOPE YOU'LL READ IT because what happened today was, in my opinion, the single coolest thing to happen all year. To me, that is.

5:00 a.m. Roll out of bed to use the facilities and promptly yelp with back pain, causing Kevin to come upstairs and make sure I'm all right. Groggily inquire about the time, because opening my eyes is impossible. Go back to bed. Sleep intermittently for three more hours, have incomprehensible dream about Kim Possible.

8:15 a.m. Give up the Snooze Button War and drag body (now free of pain, yay) out of warm bed to dress and stuff. Eat McDonald's apple pie left from last night and watch Bonanza. Kiss sleeping man and depart.

9:03 a.m. to 3:40 p.m. Clock in. Resume yesterday's work on newsletter. Spend the next almost seven hours in a state of near-constant motion. Between writing articles, printing sheets, and copying massive batches of newsletter pages, I have to do bulletins for tonight's midweek service, print up and mail a letter for Pastor, sort the mail, and answer the phone. Said phone rings almost nonstop with people wanting to know about Bob, because Pastor took Bob to Philadelphia at 4 this morning for his brain surgery. I have limited information to offer, and so much to get done that Pastor agrees to my staying a little late. I'm so frazzled that when Mom calls to have me take out the dogs after work because she's gone on a day shopping trip, I call Kevin and beg him to do it for me.

3:45 p.m. Leave work with all mail articles in hand to drop off at the post office. Go to Mom's to make sure Kevin took the dogs out, find him holding Sheela. (Somebody has to hold the baby.) Go to Wendy's for food for us both. Feed husband. Check email. Read newspaper.

5:50 p.m. While preparing to leave Mom's, get text message from [livejournal.com profile] siddyq. Q's theater group is en route to NYC for Broadway shows and will be stopping for supper in Allentown! Of course I'll meet her as soon as I know where and when. Drop Kevin off at home and head back to church for midweek service, but advise Pastor about intentions to leave as soon as I hear from Q. He says go.

7:15 p.m. Get the call from Q midway through Bible study. Slip out as discreetly as possible and head for Hellertown. Take almost an hour to find the place because I'm really not familiar with that part of the Lehigh Valley, but follow my nose when in doubt and somehow actually get there. Thank God profusely, then get squealy bear hug from perky blonde daughter.

This is the part that I thought made all the rest of the tiring day totally worthwhile. I only got to see Q for about twenty minutes, although to see one of my kids for five minutes I would have put up with the getting lost. But Q had something very interesting to tell me. She'd discussed it with their parents, and they were agreeable so long as we were agreeable, which of course I said we were.

Kevin and I are now officially Q's godparents.

I'm personally very excited. I think he's a little confused (I just told him), but being Kevin, he takes it in stride. I always wanted to be someone's godmother.

8:30 p.m., approximately Say goodbye to godchild and head back home. Take a lot less time to get back to the church than I did going from the church to Hellertown. Manage to attend the last half hour of choir practice, then stand around discussing Bob's surgery with Pastor, Pastor's wife, and choirmaster.

9:45 p.m. Come home for the first time ALL DAY. Have conversation with Mom about Bob and Q. Love her reaction to my new status as godmother.

"So...what do you have to do?"

"Nothing."

"Oh, you're good at that."

And now...although I should do laundry, I'm too frammin' tired, and I still have a newsletter to finish tomorrow. I'm off to crawl under the covers and be very unconscious for a while.

Oh, no, nothing like that. Actually, she already is a Christian, baptized and everything. Her parents just never assigned godparents to her; some denominations don't do that, some people just choose not to do it. The godparent thing is honorary more than anything -- really, it's the exact same relationship I already have with all the kids, just with a different name and parental approval. ;)

Congratulations! That is so cool and so very touching (how wonderful that it's one of your 'kids'! *g*)

Sorry I've been quiet the last few weeks, btw - I totally must apologize to my flist for neglecting them. Things have been insanely busy lately.
