And because I'm still not up to thinking. Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] naiadea.

1. How old were you in 1980?
3, for most of the year; I turned 4 in September.

2. How old were you in 1989?
I turned 13 in September.

3. Were you a Toys Я Us kid?
I'm dying to know how someone managed to type that backwards. No, not particularly; if memory serves, Kiddie City had better prices.

4. Did you watch Transformers?
Nah, it wasn't something I was ever into; also, if I remember rightly, it conflicted in the viewing schedule with something I really liked, like Dungeons and Dragons.

5. Did you see E.T. on the big screen?
Yes, but I have no memory of the experience. My mom says I cried.

6. Did you own a Lite Brite?
One of my sisters did. I tried it once or twice and was confused by the appeal, because it seemed to me that all you were doing was destroying a piece of paper.

7. Who is your favorite Golden Girl?
Dorothy. What amuses me about that show now is that they rerun it on Lifetime (it's the only thing ON Lifetime that I will watch, since their movies are so awful), and I finally understand all the humor that I didn't get when the show was first aired.

8. When someone says "Who you gonna call?," you think...?
Is there any answer besides Ghostbusters that makes a lick of sense? Well, wait, yes there is; Dan Akyroyd had a cameo as Ray in the movie Casper, and he said, "Who you gonna call? Someone else!" before he ran.

9. What was your favorite toy?
My stuffed dog Lonely, who lived on my bed from age four onward. I stopped sleeping with him only once I had a larger "stuffed animal" in my bed.

10. Did you have a Pogo Ball?
A what? *looks them up* Oh, that! No.

11. Did you listen to New Kids on the Block?
*snorts* Not by choice. My sister Lisa was a big fan, I wasn't.

12. What New Kid did you have a crush on?
I thought Joey had pretty eyes; that was as close as I got.

13. Did you play M.A.S.H?
Oh yes!

14. Did you watch The Care Bears?
The movies; I didn't really care for the show.

15. Did you have Jelly bracelets?
Some, but I never quite understood the appeal.

16. Did you ever own a slap bracelet?
Oh hells yes.

17. The Breakfast Club or Sixteen Candles?
I can't stand either one.

18. Did you have a crazy hair style?
Heh...my mom bought us a crimping iron at one time. I had crimped hair.

19. What was your first bike?
It was red and had training wheels.

20. Name one thing you still own from your childhood?
Lonely.

21. Did you have a Cabbage Patch Kid?
Two, in fact. One regular doll and one Preemie.

22. Rainbow Brite or Strawberry Shortcake?
I was a big Rainbow Brite fan! In retrospect, I'm not sure why...

23. Did you watch Miami Vice?
No.

24. Did you own a Trapper Keeper?
It had gray kittens on it.

25. Atari or Nintendo?
I had both. In fact, I STILL have both.

26. Did you play Pac-Man?
Sure did, although Ms. Pac-Man was better.

27. Which was better: Jem and The Holograms or Barbie and The Rockers?
Duh, Jem of course.

28. He-Man or She-Ra?
I loved them both. Actually, Lisa was more into He-Man and I was more into She-Ra, so we had both playsets and would share the toys back and forth. She and I played together quite nicely as children, at least the majority of the time.

29. What movie scared you the most?
Anyone who has seen this movie will laugh at me, but it was Fright Night. I was nine, I'd never seen a vampire movie before, and it sort of traumatized me without my even understanding why. The irony is particularly amusing when you realize that the vampire in question was played by Chris Sarandon...who played Prince Humperdinck in my all-time favorite movie The Princess Bride.

30. Did you try to dance like Michael Jackson?
Actually, I have distinct recollections of being the only kid in my class who didn't particularly like MJ.

31. What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear "flux capacitor"?
Marty McFly taking his mother to a dance. XD

32. What other colors did Pepsi come in?
It came in other colors? I remember the horrible "Crystal" Pepsi, but I don't remember any others.

33. Roger Rabbit or Howard the Duck?
I liked both, but Roger was most certainly the superior film.

34. Did you ever beg your parents to have your school picture taken with the 'LASER' background?
We never had background options for our school pictures; everyone had the same sort of cloudy-blue screen behind them.

35. Do you know what the Ninja Rap is?
Is that the rap Vanilla Ice performs in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Secret of the Ooze? If so, then yes. If not, then I have no idea.

36. Do you know why people cringe when they hear the word BUCKNER?
Uh...no idea.

37. Can you name the family members from National Lampoon's Vacation movies?
I never liked those movies. I thought they were all stupid.

38. Did you have pump sneakers?
No, although I remember them. I do recall that when I was fifth grade, the cool shoe to own (for girls) was a pair of hot pink high-top Converse sneakers, and I had those.

39. Did you own HYPER COLOR shirts?
No, but I seem to remember wanting one.

40. Did you watch Smurfs?
Oh, gosh yes. And Snorks too -- if you don't know what Snorks are, they were essentially Smurfs underwater.

Thank you for all of your kind words about Aunt Dorothy. Pastor, at my request, went in to visit her last night and gave her last rites "just in case," and my mom just called to say that she and Ravi and Aunt Bonnie are on their way to the hospital now to see her.

I forget which of the movies it is, but it was definitely in a TMNT movie and yes, by Vanilla Ice. I know it well. My brother has the habit of singing it at random times. XD And for Christmas 2006, I downloaded it from Walmart.com and put it on a CD for him and included a lyric sheet. XD He's got it in his car!
