[livejournal.com profile] morningstar4 did this, and I quite liked her approach to it, so I've decided to do it this way too.

Look at your LJ userpics list. If you have fewer than 50 icons, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five icons, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five icons, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them on your LJ and tell everyone exactly why you have it, why it's interesting to you, and what significance it has.

But like D, instead of going every tenth, I picked one icon out of every ten that I thought perhaps people might not understand. So here are my twelve icon explanations; if you'd like a different one explained, leave a comment and let me know which one has you curious.

-- I don't have occasion to use this icon as often as I'd like. That is, of course, Jeremy Brett and Kate Winslet, a.k.a. Sherlock and Charlotte Holmes, from my novel-in-progress. [livejournal.com profile] wens made this for me, and the quote at the bottom is from one of the outtake scenes that I posted for public consumption a while back. I know, I know...I've got to finish this book.

-- I made this one. Back when the LXG roleplaying game still existed, I played Nemo. One of the running gags in our chatroom was that Nemo was not lost, so stop trying to find him. A Finding Nemo reference, of course.

-- Another one of mine. This is from the scene in the LXG film where M's hired guns attack the League in Dorian's library, and the place is wildly shot up and papers are flying and books are destroyed. I thought it would be funny to take the attitude that Dorian killed people because they ruined his books.

-- This one had more hands in it than I can count! [livejournal.com profile] maddarilke made the original art; it's Allan Quatermain and his daughter Elizabeth, from a flashback scene in the first volume of my beloved TPDoEQ. [livejournal.com profile] clez has an icon of Quatermain and Tom Sawyer that says "Like father, like son," and I thought the sentiment was appropriate for this image too. [livejournal.com profile] destinedtofly put the actual icon together for me.

-- Yeah, uh, I'm not sure either. I just thought it was funny. Also, Neil Gaiman's kinda hot.

-- This sentiment was actually an AIM away message for me for a time. It was a standing joke, that I'd be so overwhelmed after looking at pictures of hot guys (at the time, this usually involved the LXG cast) that I'd have to leave my computer. [livejournal.com profile] _revolutionary iconned it for me.

-- Pardon the language. I don't use this often, because I don't use that word often. I have to be pretty mad for this icon to appear. I am the real-life Molly Weasley and I will kill you if you touch my kids, whether they're my online adoptees or my youth group. [livejournal.com profile] clez made this for my exclusive use under duress.

-- Yeah, just like that!

-- Link and Zelda are my oldest enduring OTP, although I didn't really start talking about them until last year when I got Twilight Princess and fell in love with the franchise all over again. The quote is from my fanfic, "Til the Sun Grows Cold and the Stars Grow Old," and is said during this exact scene in TP.

-- Princess Zelda and Samus Aran may be awfully pretty, but don't be fooled, these girls are also seriously badass. And they don't back down. I'm trying to learn to not back down too.
