As a general rule, I think banning books is wrong. That said, I wish that fewer girls would read the Twilight saga and view it as a description of how a relationship is supposed to work. Read it, if you want, but don't be misled.

Thissss... all taste, and quality aside, it disturbs me that these books are specifically aimed at a group of people who haven't yet solidified their critical thinking skills, and are prone to suggestion and imitation.

I think someone needs to make up big, yellow "Yeild sign" stickers with "THIS BOOK CONTAINS WHAT WOULD BE A DANGEROUS, STALKER, CO-DEPENDENT RELATIONSHIP WERE IT NOT FANTASY" on them. Then we can go on guerrilla runs and slap them onto one of those reportedly blank pages in the middle. Or on the cover. Or over the prologue. Or Afterword. Or all of the above.

That is a brilliant idea!

And I mean, I love my cheesy vampire fiction as much as the next gal, but anyone taking relationship advice from Twilight is just ... well, it's icky.

I don't know, I just really don't think anything ridiculous like that is necessary - are we going to post warnings like that in all YA novels that people find objectionable in one way or another...?

Don't worry about it :) It really can be difficult. Steph genuinely doesn't like the books (although I know you and a couple of my other friends do), but she wouldn't make a suggestion like that with any sort of seriousness. At least, I don't think she would.

That's ok, I'm fine with people not liking some books that I love but banning/censorship of media is a pet peeve of mine so I can get quite grumpy about it very easily. I have to keep Big Brother in check :P

Heh, no problem. I'm prone to a bit of hyperbole when it comes to... well most things, now that I think on it ^.^;;

I'm probably not giving teenaged-girls enough credit.

Then again, I do remember what a raging moron I was at that age. o.o (haha. She says as if she isn't anymore :B)
